Return of Garden Club On Monday, September 5, there is a free special social meeting of the Pembrey and Burry Port Gardening Club at 7.15pm in the Community Hall, Pembrey. This is to celebrate the return of the club after a long break. Previous and new members are invited to an evening with refreshmen­ts, a raffle, garden sale stall and “Gardener’s Question Time”. Harbour Music and Poetry There will be no more Saturday afternoon music and poetry sessions at the harbour. We resume on Monday, September 5, for our normal open mic weekly sessions 7.30-10.30pm at Burry Port Yacht Club. It is a community project enabling people of all ages and abilities to share their musical and literary skills. Audience warmly invited. Just turn up.

Last Night of Proms The Mayor of Pembrey and Burry Port invites you to join him on September 10 at 7.30pm. Lighthouse Library Bookswaps Thursday, September 8, at 6pm there is “Meet the Author” Alan Meredith. Places cost £3 which includes a raffle ticket and are limited so book your place by email: lighthouse­libraryboo­kswaps@gmail.com. There will be signed copies of books to purchase and refreshmen­ts at a small charge. Bookswaps is open at 69 Station Road between the Co-op and the fish and chip shop. Hours are Mondays 4-6pm,tuesdays and Wednesdays 9.30am-2pm, 2nd and 4th Fridays of month 9.30-12noon and 4-6pm, 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month 11am-2pm. Donations of books, board games and jigsaws taken when open. There is a children’s cosy corner. Most items in the library are free. Hours liable to change as staffed by volunteers.

Meals on Wheels Provided by Pembrey and Burry Port Town Council every Monday and Wednesday lunchtime, a home cooked hot meal delivered to your door by volunteers. Welsh Conversati­on Every Wednesday at the Pembrey Country Inn, Welsh speakers and learners of all levels are welcome to join in for some conversati­on and fun, 1-3pm. (The quiz has resumed on Tuesdays at 8pm. Advisable to book due to available space and tables.) Yoga Resumes on Monday, September 5. This is now held from 10am to 12noon every Monday (except bank holidays) with Richard Rees at £6 per person per session in the main Memorial Hall. Now £6 per person due to the council no longer charging for 15-minute slots so exercise time is extended by 30 minutes.

Cefn Sidan U3A September meetings start as follows: Thursday 1st Bus Pass Explorers go to Cardigan via the 8.10am bus. Friday 2nd the Cycle group meet at 10.30am at the Blue Mussels at the harbour and at 2pm the crochet and Arts group meet in the small hall. Sunday 4th is Sunday Lunch at the Diplomat Hotel for 1pm. Monday 5th the Strollers meet at 2pm at the cycle sheds. Tuesday 6th at 10.30am is the committee meeting. Monday 12th is work on the station garden at 10am or the next dry Monday in the month. Wednesday 14th is the Coffee Morning at 10.45am with book swap available and the Whist group at 2.30pm at the Neptune. Friday 16th the Cycle group meet at 10.30am at the Blue Mussels at the harbour and at 2pm the Crochet and Arts group meet. More details of meetings next week. Food Forward food boxes Collaborat­ing with Fareshare and Pembrey and Burry Port Town Council, Food Forward Burry Port is a Lotteryfun­ded project which supports local residents. The venue is 38 Station Road, Burry Port SA16 0LP. The opening times are every Tuesday between 11am and 5pm. £1 a year for membership then each week you will have the option of spending £3.50 or £5 for goods worth between £15 to £20. No referrals required. CBSA are supported by Fareshare Cymru, Morrison’s and Burry Port Co-op. Call in on Tuesday to see what it’s all about, our volunteers would love to meet you.
