Q

I have a Viburnum which has grown too big for the space it is in. It’s also too big to move.

Can I cut it back, and when is the best time to do this?

Coral Payne

A

Viburnum is a hardy shrub which will recover well from pruning so don’t be nervous about this job.

The best time is after it flowers in spring – you can cut it back as much as you like and spring growth will soften the look very quickly.

That said you could also prune it now without doing any harm.
