Sivac stars as amazing attack gives Bont crown

-

A SENSATIONAL bowling performance carried Pontarddulais Seconds to the Premier West Division title as they blitzed Ynysygerwn Seconds.

The Neath Valley side suffered a remarkable collapse as they crashed from 14-0 to 20 all out in just 11.2 overs.

Ed Sivac returned the superb figures of 5-5, with Thomas Edwards taking 3-15.

Ynys opener Regan Ace scored half of his side’s runs, while the only other players to avoid ducks were Grant Watkins (3) and Jordan Morgan (1).

Bont openers Matthew Williams and Lewis Edwards took just eight balls to reach their target.

Ammanford Seconds enjoyed a satisfying end to their season when they beat Swansea by 78 runs at the Park.

Ammanford’s total of 246 was largely due to a 138-run partnership between the evergreen Carl Griffiths, who batted throughout for an unbeaten 95, and Tomos Roach (67).

Tiaan Sparrow (27) was the only other Ammanford batsman to reach double figures.

Azrin Azmy (4-47) and Mohammed Aazim (3-48) were the pick of the Swansea bowlers.

Despite a fighting 62 from opener Haroon Ali, Swansea could offer little resistance to the bowling of man of the match Roach who took 4-54.

They were all out for 168 in the 41st over.

Ammanford finished their season in eighth position.

Carmarthen Wanderers ended in ninth spot after going down by 76 runs at home to Mumbles.

Having won the toss and decided to bat, Mumbles were all out for 191. Skipper Joe Phillips made 71 and Jon Brearley scored 51.

Kai Summers and Steffan Jones both took three wickets for the Wanderers.

But their run chase struggled to get out of first gear, with Summers top-scoring with 18.

Sam Harris claimed 3-24 and Ben Jones 3-27.

Llanelli enjoyed a two-wicket win at Gorseinon.

The hosts were all out for 189, with opener Chris Richards topscoring with 50.

Llanelli’s Sam Weeds scored 52 in his side’s reply and Jordan Evans added a vital 34. But Gorseinon looked to be on their way to victory when Jamie Mann took 4-31.

But a ninth-wicket partnership between Kris Jones (25) and Joshua Williams (16) edged the visitors to what at one stage had seemed an improbable victory.
