The Brechfa Forest and Llanllwni Mountain Tourism Cluster Association is hosting a talk on the Brechfa Forest Garden for local tourism businesses and interested individuals on Monday, September 26, at Keepers, Brechfa, SA32 7BW, with a speaker from Forest Research. The “Garden” covers a site of some 11 hectares near Abergorlech and contains 92 plots of trees, many of which are species now classified as rare or endangered. It is one of only four forest gardens in Great Britain: the one in Scotland is receiving investment to develop it as a major visitor attraction. Established in the late 1950s by the Forestry Commission to assess suitability for forest planting, from 1982 Forest Research took on the management, and is important now to address the effects of climate change. Two sessions are organised with limited places and bookable on Eventbrite, tickets are free – 2.30pm to 4.30pm, and 5.30pm to 7.30pm – refreshments served between the two sessions.
