New venue as popular race makes long-awaited return

THE Carmarthenshire Primary Schools Cross Country Championships is returning to the county for the first time in three years.

In previous years the event has been staged at the United Counties

Showground in Carmarthen, and it was organised for more than 30 years by Dr Hedydd Davies.

This year it will move to a new venue. It is being held next week at Pembrey Country Park on the evening of

Thursday, September 29.

The first event is at 4.30pm and it concludes at 6.30pm. Years 3 and 4 will run 1k, while the races for Years 5 and 6 races will be over a mile.

There will be medals for the first five in each of the eight categories, along with a team award for the winning school in each age group.

Primary schools in Carmarthenshire have been invited to enter teams and individuals.
