FARMER DIES IN BULL TRAGEDY
A FARMER has died following an incident involving a bull on a Welsh farm.
The man, named locally as 58-year-old Maldwyn Harries, passed away at the Carmarthenshire farm on September 23.
Llandeilo councillor Christoph Fischer said: “I was very shocked to learn about this heart-breaking tragedy. The Harries family is at the heart of the Llandeilo and Penybanc community.”
TRIBUTES have been paid to a 58-year-old man who has been killed on a farm in west Wales.
The incident happened on a farm in the Penybanc area to the west of Llandeilo.
Officers from Dyfed-powys Police were called to the address on Friday morning, and it’s been confirmed that the man died at the scene.
He has been named locally as Maldwyn Harries, who was well known in the Llandeilo area and within the surrounding farming community.
Police have not confirmed any details surrounding the death, but it is understood that the incident involved a bull on the farm.
Llandeilo town councillor Christoph Fischer said everyone in the area had been shocked and saddened by the sudden death.
“I was very shocked to learn about this heart-breaking tragedy,” he said.
“The Harries family is at the heart of the Llandeilo and Penybanc community and we’re all saddened that Maldwyn lost his life. He will be greatly missed.”
Edward Thomas, a town councillor and also a Carmarthenshire county councillor for the Llandeilo ward, said: “It’s very, very sad news and my thoughts are with the family. All the people in the Llandeilo area are very saddened by the news and will be very supportive of the family.”
A spokeswoman for Dyfed-powys Police confirmed: “Officers attended a farm in the Penybanc area of Llandeilo on Friday morning, September 23, 2022, following a report that a man had been injured. Sadly, a 58-year-old man passed away at the scene.”
HM Coroner for Carmarthenshire and the Health and Safety Executive have been informed of the death. An inquest into the circumstances surrounding the death has not yet been opened.
