Otters bag home win

-

NARBERTH beat Beddau 21-13 in the Admiral Championship.

Beddau got off to a good start and a brace of penalties put them 6-0 ahead.

But the Otters hit back when they kicked to the corner, formed a rolling maul and the visitors dragged it down, with the referee awarding a penalty try. That put Narberth a point up.

And the hosts extended their advantage when scrum-half Lewys Gibby spotted a gap in the defence and sprinted downfield. He passed to wing Josh Evans, who cut inside the defence and fed Gibby who dived over in the corner. Wing Nick Gale converted.

Beddau kept battling in the second half, but from one of their attacks Gale intercepted a pass and sprinted away to score under the posts.

Gale converted to make the score 21-6.

Beddau finally got the try they deserved from a scrum close to the Otters line.

Head coach Sean Gale said: “We were pleased to come away with another win which the players deserved for all the hard work they have put in during the last few weeks.”
