Jones try fires Amman

-

AMMAN United maintained their unbeaten start to the new Three West B season with a convincing 18-9 victory over Cefneithin.

The home side scored an early try when back-rower Dan Jones threw a dummy before running in the opening score.

A Tom Caddell penalty put United 8-0 up, before Cefneithin enjoyed a good spell.

And the visitors reduced the arrears before half-time when fly-half Richard Watts kicked a penalty to make it 8-3.

Amman began the second half well and extended their lead when wing Jack Evans rounded his defender before sprinting in for a try. The linesman had his flag up for a foot in touch, but the referee overruled him and the try was awarded. Caddell converted.

Cefneithin hit back when Watts sent over a penalty, before Caddell responded at the other end to put the Reds 18-6 up.

Watts kicked his third penalty but Amman held on comfortably.

Amman are in cup action on Saturday when they face Llangadog at Cwmamman Park.

Cwmgors went down to a 3417 defeat at home to Cwmafan in Three West Central.

Owain Davies scored one of their tries after a fine Andrew Mason break. Josef Davies added a conversion and a penalty.
