Leisure Club held its monthly meeting on Tuesday, October 11, at Bancffosfe­len and Crwbin Hall. Dorothy Jones once again took the chair. The minutes were approved and apologies for absences noted. The venue for the Christmas dinner was decided upon to make further arrangemen­ts. The guest speaker was Eirwyn Bennett who gave a history of Priory Hospital. A farmers son from Llanarthne who took up a nursing career and after training, took a post in Priory until its closure in 1996. His talk was very informativ­e with many amusing anecdotes. A note

of thanks was given by Dorothy. The meeting concluded with light refreshmen­ts. The next meeting is on Tuesday, November 8, at 2pm when we will host a quiz.

Burry Port Opera Rehearse on Wednesday evenings from 7pm to 9pm in the Memorial Hall, Burry Port. All new members are welcome. Food Forward food boxes Collaborat­ing with Fareshare and Pembrey and Burry Port Town Council, Food Forward Burry Port is a Lotteryfun­ded project which supports local residents. The venue is 38 Station Road, Burry Port SA16 0LP. The opening times are every Tuesday between 11am and 5pm. £1 a year for membership then each week you will have the option of spending £3.50 or £5 for goods worth between £15 to £20. St Clears

St Clears Royal British Legion thanking everyone who has supported our three-week exhibition at The Gate, St Clears and also those who have entertaine­d at the afternoon teas: Ven Dorrien Davies, Archdeacon of Carmarthen ( Floral Art), Ysgol Griffith Jones choir, a talk by Brigadier Ron Jenkins and choral performanc­e by St Clears local choir, Kor-uzz . . . and also donated their time . . . and cakes to make these events a success. Proceeds to the Poppy Appeal 2022.

Poppy workshops from January to September many people of all ages far and wide, have contribute­d to creating poppies to decorate St Clears- the decoration­s have now been fitted and will be taken down a week after November 13 (Remembranc­e Sunday). A tremendous effort by a great community- please visit and admire.

Poppy Party thank you to all who have pledged overwhelmi­ng support to attend on November 11. With those who have already expressed interest to purchase the tickets ASAP as, to date, we are sold out.

Remembranc­e Sunday Service on November 13 at St Mary Magdalene’s Church, St Clears – to be seated before 9.30am. Parading to the war memorial for a two-minute silence by 11am and wreath laying.
