RUNNERS FLOCK TO TOP EVENTS
THE Llanelli Half Marathon was one of many long-distance road running events which is back in the calendar.
The West Wales event joined the likes of the Cardiff Half Marathon and the London Marathon which make up a busy few weeks for endurance athletes.
The M&D Care Llanelli Half Marathon starts and finishes outside Parc y Scarlets.
Ieuan Griffiths (1:19:58), David Clarke (1:27:47), Rob Davies (1:28:24), Claire Protheroe (1:43:08), Jason Dickinson (1:46:31), Steffan Gravell (1:46:28), Nick Venables (1:47:17) and Andrew Morris (2:09:45) are members of the local athletics club who ran along familiar roads in the town.
The Cardiff Half Junior 2022 proved to be a thrilling start to the Cardiff Half Marathon weekend.
In the future challengers event for junior club athletes, Steffan Bridger was the overall winner in 4:52, followed by Lowri Morgan (6:35) and Deian Morgan (7:31).
A day later at the Wizz Air Cardiff Half Marathon, several Carmarthen Harriers and Llanelli Athletics Club runners participated in Wales’s largest road race and the UK’S second largest half marathon.
Half marathon finishing times: Dean Summers (1:16:44), Rob Davies (1:33:55), Huw Davies (1:33:55), Caryl Williams (1:39:07), Craig Hopkins (1:40:33), Keri Phillips (1:41:02), Kelcy Hooper (1:42:18), Ellie Kiff (1:42:25), Daniel Thomas (1:46:29), Colin Edwards (1:48:08), Mathew Jones (1:49:12), Non Morgan (1:49:49), Cerys Davies (1:57:19), Heledd Jones (2:00:39), Liam Thorley (2:14:11), Gloria Edwards (2:16:52), Rachel Evans (2:26:32), Jody Williams (2:27:24), Lorna Powell (2:27:24), Deb John (2:27:51), Andrew Stephens (2:28:03), Claire Kearney (2:34:03), Craig Kearney (2:34:04).
Meanwhile, Iwan Thomas (7:34), Finley Bruce (7:51) and Esme Lynock (10:46) represented Wales at the TCS London Mini Marathon. Covering the last 2.6k of the course, the trio were involved in the under-13 girls’ and under 17 boys’ races.
They were joined by coaches Neil Thomas and Cressy Morgan, who were a part of the Welsh management team.
Helen Beynon and Paul Robbins completed the TCS London Marathon in 3:30:14 and 3:38:16 respectively.
In the Pembrokeshire Half Marathon and 10k, Elizabeth Tremlett took part in the longer race and finished in a time of 1:35:44. Steffan Bridger completed the 10k in 36:30.
