Bargain book sale for thrifty booklovers

-

THRIFTY booklovers are in for a treat as St Peter’s Church in Carmarthen opens its doors for another bargain book sale this week.

The sale begins today and runs until Saturday.

The book sale has grown in popularity since its inception as a one-off fundraiser three years ago.

After the difficult years of Covid-19, the easing of restrictions this year presented a great opportunity for the church to relaunch the sale and to welcome in the community for a cuppa, a cake, and a chat.

The sale now offers hundreds of used books across a raft of different genres, and the event is a regular and much-anticipated fixture in the church calendar.

Reverend Canon Dr Matthew Hill believes a big part of the appeal of the St Peter’s book sale is the sheer volume of titles available at bargain prices and that the books are donated by the community for the community.

He said: “Members of the public very generously keep donating their used books to the church and we have been able to build up a considerable collection.

“We keep putting on the book sales and people continue to donate, and for this we are very grateful.

“Once again, we have an excellent range of different genres on offer including general fiction, classics, thrillers, biographies, cookery, history, poetry as well as good Welsh language and children’s sections.”

Today the book sale runs between 11.15am and 3pm.

Tomorrow, Friday and Saturday the sale will take place between 10am and 2pm.
