LLANDEILO ARE OFF THE MARK

-

AFTER failing to win any of their first five games in division two of the LTC Mobilty Carmarthenshire League, Llandeilo Town got off the mark with a stunning 6-2 win at Johnstown.

That was a terrific result for a club who have found it tough going in the past year. Four of the goals at Johnstown were shared by Billy Williams and Tom Mcarley, while also on target were Ciaran Scott and Luke Harries.

The victory helped Llandeilo climb off the bottom and up three places in the table, and they will be looking to make it two from two when taking the road for another away fixture against KRUF this Saturday.

The top-of-the-table game between Ponthenri and visiting Ferryside was postponed because of Covid in the home camp, which gave Ammanford Development the opportunity to close the gap on the big two when hosting Llansteffan.

With Rhodri Bowen netting twice and Lewis Trotman and Nathan Isaac grabbing a goal each there was no shortage of firepower from Ammanford Development, who moved up one spot to fourth.

But after being in control for most of the game they will be disappointed with a 4-4 draw.

After letting slip a 2-0 lead and being pegged back to 2-2, the home side restored the two-goal cushion at 4-2 before losing it a second time.

Also in division two, West End United beat KRUF 4-2 with goals from Charlie Weston (2), James Doel and Daf Gregory.

For the first time this season the weather took its toll on the programme, and called off in the top two divisions were a couple of big games. Postponed because of a waterlogged ground in the Premier division was the battle between the top two, Pontlliw and Seaside, though two games did survive.

Trallwm and Pengelli United drew 2-2, and that was also the score between Loughor and visiting Burry Port. Ciaran Morgan and Jacob Llewellyn netted for Loughor, and Jamie Fleming and Josh Element replied for Burry Port.

In division one the big game between Caerbryn and Tumble United also fell victim to a wet pitch.

All of that gave Camford Sport the chance to strengthen their position at the top of the division one table, and they were in no mood to let it slip when defeating visiting Drefach 4-0.

It was an eye-catching performance from Camford, who took charge with a couple of well-taken goals by striker Jack Roberts. Ralf Mcgibney and Rhys Thomas scored a goal each.

There was a welcome three points for Llangennech, who produced arguably their best performance of the season to beat Kidwelly Town 6-1 in their own back yard.

Liam Griffiths was first to strike for the hosts in the 10th minute, their only other goal in the opening half going to Callum Morgan 17 minutes later.

The pressure from Llangennech in the second half was even more intense, resulting in four more goals. Griffiths scored his second in the 69th minute, David Lewis got one a minute later, before Liam Fry grabbed two in quick succession in the 81st and 82nd minutes.

Llandovery Town lost a good chance to move to within a point of third-placed Caerbryn when held 2-2 at home by Bancffosfelen, with all the goals scored in the second half.

After going behind early in the second half, Llandovery battled back and were given a dream chance to equalise when the referee pointed to the spot.

The ever-reliable Chris Hyde made no mistake with his penalty, and soon afterwards the hosts edged ahead for the first time thanks to Dan Pearce. The chance was created by Zaki Andreasen, but it was only good enough to earn Llandovery a point.

Also in division one, FC Carmarthen won 4-3 away to Dafen Reserves thanks to goals from Gavin Rees (2), Lewis Byng and Terry Maynard.

There were four games in reserve division one. Leaders Seaside Reserves won 2-1 at home to Burry Port Reserves, while Loughor Rovers Reserves won 2-1 at Drefach Reserves thanks to two goals from Dave Mcewan.

Llangennech Reserves beat Dafan A 6-2, and Pengelli United Reserves crashed 7-1 at home to Pontlliw Reserves

In the only game played in reserve division two, Camford Sports made ground advantage count when defeating Tumble United Reserves 3-1.

Striker Damian Walters was the star of the show with two of the goals for Camford, and there was one from Kalem Tinnuche.

And in the only game in reserve division three, Pwll Athletic Reserves beat Kidwelly Town Reserves 4-2 with goals by Gavin John, Dioge Tome and Samuel Conners.
