Sunday free gigs continue at Cwmgors Rugby Club, and this weekend’s offering on Sunday afternoon will be Panic Station, entry totally free. Christmas dinner GCG OAP branch’s 2022 Christmas dinner has been booked for Cwmllynfel­l Hall, on December 8, the same venue as last year, which we thoroughly enjoyed.

Winter fair A winter fair will be held at Cwmgors Community Centre SA18 1PS on Saturday, November 19, between 2.30pm and 5pm, entry totally free. There will be various stalls and food available, children’s goody bags; come along and meet Leo the Llama, and also have the chance to win an Amazon Fire! All welcome. Tai’rgwaith Senior Citizens met on Monday evening, October 31, at the Community Hall, Tai’rgwaith. A very special thank you from us all to Trudy Launchbury for providing the very tasty food and refreshmen­ts, a very kind donation, thank you Trudy. The next meeting will be at 6pm on Monday, November 14.

Coming soon to GCG Library, look out for wreath-making sessions to enjoy; you can book for November 20 and 26 and for December 4. Also, the Christmas Fair will be back this year, and will be on December 3.

Parents’ evenings Face to face parents’ evenings are back at Ysgol Gwaun-cae-gurwen, the school is pleased to announce. They will be on Monday and Tuesday, November 21 and 22, and slots will be available between 3.30pm and 6pm, each for 10 minutes in duration. While you wait, you will have an opportunit­y to look through the books. The online booking form will be live until Wednesday, November 12. Nursery class parents will meanwhile get their opportunit­y after half term-details to follow.

Lighthouse Library Bookswaps Bookswaps is open at 69 Station Road between the Co-op and the fish and chip shop. Hours are Mondays 4pm-6pm, Tuesdays and Wednesdays 9.30am-2pm, second and fourth Fridays of month 9.30-noon and 4pm-6pm, first and third Saturdays of the month 11am-2pm. Donations of books, board games and jigsaws taken when open. There is a children’s cosy corner. Most items in the library are free. Hours liable to change as staffed by volunteers.

Remembranc­e Sunday The services for Remembranc­e Sunday will be held on November 13 this year. The first will be in Dewi Sant Church starting at 10am followed by a procession to the memorial garden. The traditiona­l service will take place there at 10.55am. All welcome. (A service will be held in the memorial garden, Cross Hands, at 2pm.)

Wreath-making workshop Make your own Christmas wreath or star at a workshop in the hall on Saturday, November 12, from 10am to noon. Arranged by Cyfeillion Y Coetir/ Friends of the Woodland Park, entrance is £1 to include tea/ coffee and mince pie. Kits are from 50p to £10 or buy an assembled wreath or star to decorate. New community facility The community council has refurbishe­d unused rooms in the pavilion in the park to set up a new centre offering support to residents. (Tumble Football Club still uses the changing rooms.) Y Cwtsh will offer a ‘warm space’ and has a community pantry operating under the Fareshare Cymru scheme where people can ‘pay what they wish’ for food and other essentials. St Clears 85th RBL Anniversar­y The exhibition at The Gate has been extended until November 12 at 1pm. Take a trip down memory lane and visit and admire the Poppy displays in the main street of St Clears.

Remembranc­e arrangemen­ts November 11, Armistice Day, meet at war memorial at 10.45am for short service and 2-minute silence at 11am led by Reverend Justin Arnott. Children of Ysgol Griffith Jones are laying a poppy wreath. Also on November 11: Poppy Party, 7pm-til late, by ticket only. Closed envelope raffle (cash/cheque donations are welcome) to be drawn on the night. Dress code: Smart casual/partywear, bring your own food and drinks. Eglwysi Bro Aeron Mydr Special thanks to all who came to Ciliau Aeron Hall on Sunday for our LMA Thanksgivi­ng service. It was very well attended with all churches taking part. Thanks to all who donated and helped with the refreshmen­t and thanks to all who contribute­d to the food bank and collection with the total being £280 shared equally a between Tir Dewi and the Wales Air Ambulance.
