Appeal after early hours lorries collision

A MAN was taken to hospital with serious injuries after a crash between three HGV lorries closed a busy road for 18 hours.

The A40 in Carmarthen­shire was closed from 1.45am on Wednesday, November 9, until 10pm that night after the serious incident.

One man was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries, where he remained after the collision between St Clears and Whitland. Officers are investigat­ing the circumstan­ces of the crash. Two emergency ambulance vehicles and an air ambulance attended the incident.

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokespers­on said: “We were called today, November 9, shortly after 1.40am to reports of a road traffic collision involving three lorries on the A40 between St Clears and Whitland.

“We sent two emergency ambulances and one duty operations manager to the scene, where we were supported by the Wales Air Ambulance.

“One person was flown to University Hospital of Wales Cardiff for further treatment.”
