A DRIVE-IN cinema and street food event is coming to Carmarthen’s Nantyci showground next month.

Between Thursday, December 15, and Sunday, December 18, Street Food Cinema will be showing two classic Christmas films, Elf and Home Alone, along with serving up some tasty food.

After two years of sell-out screenings in Cardiff, the drive-in is heading west for the first time.

Screened under cover at the showground on the edge of town, off the A40, the drive-in shows films on a huge screen with sound broadcast through the car radio.

There is contactless, online ordering from the street food traders and food is brought straight to your car by Street Food Cinema elves.

Street Food Cinema has built a reputation for hosting magical family events over its two years in Cardiff from Halloween zombies on rollerskates to Christmas Carol-oke.

For this Christmas in Carmarthen, there will be snow machines, Christmas in-car karaoke, a Christmas movie scene set up for social media photos and lots more.

Street Food Circus, the creative team behind the event, is known for its street food events across South Wales.

Founder and Street Food Circus ringmaster Matt the Hat said: “We’re over the moon to bring the magical Street Food Cinema to Carmarthen showground.

“It’s the ultimate undercover venue for us to transform into a fabulously festive drive-in movie theatre.

“Things are pretty gloomy right now but our elves are ready to spread a little Christmas magic with a big old car karaoke singalong.

“Our award-winning food trucks are ready to cook up delicious feasts, so don your best Christmas jumpers or pyjamas, fill the car with blankets and enjoy a unique Christmas experience with us.

“We can’t wait to roll the opening credits on our first screenings in Carmarthen and, if they sell out, we’re hoping we can add some more dates before Christmas,” he said.

Street food on offer includes Fork Society, winners of the 2022 People’s Choice Welsh Street Food Award, with a special festive menu including loaded nachos and pigs in blankets.

Big Apple hotdogs will be serving their ‘proper Franks’ hotdogs and Barebones pizza will be offering handmade pizzas from their woodfired oven.

For a sweet treat, there’s festive hot drinks, hot cinema popcorn, Joe’s Ice Cream, Bobo’s soft drinks bar and Street Food Cinema’s famous Sharer Sweet Boxes, all delivered to the car.
