Christmas festival events Hosted by Pembrey and Burry Port Town Council on Friday, November 25, a carnival parade at 6pm from Dyfatty to the Memorial Gardens then Christmas lights to be turned on at 6.30pm. Santa’s Grotto, Christmas Market in outside cabins and craft and food fair in the Memorial Hall from 6pm-8.30pm plus Saturday, November 26, from 10am-3pm. Victorian Christmas Festival On Friday, December 2, in Pembrey Community Hall from 4pm-8pm. At 4pm craft and food fair and children’s free lantern-making workshop. Senior Citizens’ Lunch Hosted by Burry Port and Pembrey Town Council, the traditiona­l Christmas lunch is on Wednesday, December 14, at 1pm in the Memorial Hall at £5 per person and delivery is available between 12.30 and 2pm if not able to attend in person. Please book by contacting the council office on 01554 834346 by December 9. Please note that this is only for senior citizens resident in Pembrey and Burry Port.

Garden Club The Pembrey and Burry Port Gardening Club are holding a committee meeting at 7pm on Monday, November 28, in the Community Hall, Pembrey. There is no meeting on December 5 as it is the Christmas dinner.

Burry Port Opera Rehearse on Wednesday evenings from 7pm to 9pm in the Memorial Hall, Burry Port. All new members are welcome. Singers, particular­ly gentlemen, and non-singers needed with other skills stage sets, costumes etc. For enquiries please call Bob on 01554 833630. Burry Port Male Choir Rehearse at 7pm on Mondays and Thursdays (excluding bank holidays) usually at the Burry Port Memorial Hall or small Pensioners Hall (subject to change). Craft and Coffee Burry Port Town Council have started these sessions every first Wednesday of each month in the Memorial Hall from 10.30am-12.30pm. Club, craft, coffee, cake and company, demonstrat­ions, workshops, meet new people, learn a new craft. £2 per person to include craft supplies. Harbour Music and Poetry Our open mic weekly sessions are 7.30pm-10.30pm at Burry Port Yacht Club. Lighthouse Library Bookswaps Bookswaps is open at 69 Station Road between the Co-op and the fish and chip shop. Hours are Mondays 4pm-6pm, Tuesdays and Wednesdays 9.30am-2pm, second and fourth Fridays of month 9.30-noon and 4pm-6pm, first and third Saturdays of the month 11am-2pm. Donations of books, board games and jigsaws taken when open. There is a children’s cosy corner. Most items in the library are free. Hours liable to change as staffed by volunteers.

Welsh conversati­on Every Wednesday at the Pembrey Country Inn, Welsh speakers and learners of all levels are welcome to join in for some conversati­on and fun, 1pm-3pm. (The quiz has resumed on Tuesdays at 8pm. Advisable to book due to available space and tables.) Ty Golau Dementia Charity Trust Ty Golau theraputic group for people with memory problems meet every Monday morning from 10.30am-noon at Canolfan John Burns Centre, Carmarthen Road, Kidwelly. Every session is specifical­ly aimed to stimulate the brain in a non-threatenin­g, fun way. Food Forward food boxes Collaborat­ing with Fareshare and Pembrey and Burry Port Town Council, Food Forward Burry Port is a Lotteryfun­ded project which supports local residents. The venue is 38 Station Road, Burry Port SA16 0LP. The opening times are every Tuesday between 11am and 5pm. £1 a year for membership then each week you will have the option of spending £3.50 or £5 for goods worth between £15 to £20.No referrals required.
