Trots’ future is in safe hands

-

JUNIOR runners from Taf Running and Orienteering continue to make their mark on the crosscountry scene.

In the Welsh Inter-regional and Inter-schools Championships at Monmouth, Maisie Foster – in her first season in the under-13 girls’ age group – more than justified her selection for West Wales. She crossed the line as the second scorer for the team in a fine 10th place, helping West Wales to a team win in the process.

Club-mates Manon Phillips and Mabli King were second and fourth in the under-11 girls’ race, Phillips missing out on top spot by just one second.

In the Senior and Masters ladies’ race, including the M65 Masters men, club chairman Mark Lee – who was also running for West Wales for the first time – took 14th place in the M65 men’s race in 143rd overall. Jessica Hobsontaylor was 90th (27th F35), Mair Morgan 123rd (12th F55) and Bridget Moseley 165th (29th F55).

New recruit Ryan Manders finished 69th in a field of almost 200 in the senior men’s race.

In the second Gwent League fixture at Blaise Castle in Bristol, six Trots seniors and seven juniors made the journey.

Manon Phillips was again prominent at the front of the 100-strong under-11 girls’ field, finishing third with only a second separating the first four home.

The F55 women’s team of Mel Holliday, Lindy Eynon and Mair Morgan went one better than their second placing in the first fixture to take the lead over Cardiff’s Les Croupiers.
