Dafen see points slip away after crazy finale

-

MORRISTON Town are back on top of the Macron West Wales Premier League.

Their dramatic 2-1 win at Dafen Welfare was their first success in four league games. Dafen seemed to be heading for the three points themselves as the game entered stoppage time.

The contest was played at a frantic pace. Dafen led from the third minute through Craig Frater when he capitalised on an error and hesitancy at the back.

Recent signing Frater almost put the result beyond doubt when his second-half volley struck a post with Town reserve keeper Sangmin Park beaten.

With 90 minutes up and Town still trailing 1-0 – and with no other options on the bench – Town manager Johnny Martin, a goalkeeper, replaced the injured Jon Coates, playing himself up front.

Barely a minute later, Martin equalised from four yards after a Dai Brown shot had rebounded to him after hitting the post.

And more drama was to follow.

To compound the misery for the home side, two minutes later Morriston top scorer Taylor Evans grabbed the winner after Martin headed on from a throwin. It was the ninth league goal of the season for Evans from eight games.

Evans & Williams were 2-0 down at home to Giants Grave, but a remarkable turnaround saw them fight back to win 4-2.

Two Ben Wayman goals put Grave 2-0 ahead at half-time, only for the Albies’ Luke Jones to reply with four of his own from the 78th minute onwards, with three coming in four minutes at the end.

Cwm Wanderers beat Pontarddulais Town 3-1.

Jacob Sadler, Will Arrowsmith and an own goal gave Cwm the points, with Harrison Davies replying for Bont, who stay bottom.

Sadler missed a first-half penalty for Cwm.
