Santa’s Post Box Thanks to Pembrey and Burry Port Town Council the post box is now available outside the council offices at the Memorial Institute. Children, post your letters and receive a reply; don’t forget your return address. Victorian Christmas Festival This Friday in Pembrey Community Hall from 4-8pm. At 4pm craft and food fayre and children’s free lantern making workshop. At 6.30pm lantern parade to Randall Square. At 7pm lights switch-on and carols round the tree. Pantomime St Mary’s Church, Burry Port, drama group presents the pantomime Aladdin on Tuesday and Wednesday, December 6 and 7, at 7pm in the Memorial Hall. Tickets cost £5 adult and £2 children. Senior citizens’ lunch Hosted by Burry Port and Pembrey Town Council, the traditiona­l Christmas lunch is on Wednesday, December 14, at 1pm in the Memorial Hall at £5 per person; delivery is available between 12.30 and 2pm if you are not able to attend in person. Please book by contacting the council office on 01554 834346 by December 9. This is only for senior citizens resident in Pembrey and Burry Port.

Garden Club There is no meeting on Monday, December 5, for the Pembrey and Burry Port Gardening Club as it is their Christmas dinner. The next meeting is on Monday, January 9, at 7pm in the community hall, Pembrey. All are welcome.

Burry Port Opera We rehearse on Wednesday evenings from 7-9pm in the Memorial Hall (except bank holidays). All new members are welcome. Singers, particular­ly men, and non-singers needed with other skills stage sets, costumes, etc. For enquiries please call Bob on 01554 833630. Burry Port Male Choir We rehearse at 7pm on Mondays and Thursdays (excluding bank holidays) usually at the Burry Port Memorial Hall or small Pensioners Hall (subject to change). If you want to sing and join a great group of men,come along to the rehearsal. Nothing to worry about as there is no audition.

Craft and Coffee Burry Port Town Council has these sessions every first Wednesday of each month in the Memorial Hall from 10.30am12.30pm. Craft, coffee, cake and company, demonstrat­ions, workshops, meet new people, learn a new craft. £2 per person to include craft supplies. Harbour Music and Poetry Our open mic weekly sessions are 7.30-10.30pm at Burry Port Yacht Club. Lighthouse Library Bookswaps Bookswaps is open at 69 Station Road between the Co-op and the fish and chip shop. Usual hours are Mondays 4-6pm, Tuesdays and Wednesdays 9.30am-2pm, 2nd and 4th Fridays of month 9.30-12noon and 4-6pm, 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month 11am-2pm. Donations of books are temporaril­y restricted. There is a children’s cosy corner. Jigsaws £2 each, children’s gift bags of books and toys from £3, but most items in the library are free. Hours liable to change as staffed by volunteers. Short mat bowls The Pembrey and Burry Port club meet on Tuesdays at 7pm and Thursdays from 1-3pm in the Pembrey Community Centre, Mountain Road, SA16 0AJ and invite you to try a free taster session. Welsh conversati­on Every Wednesday at the Pembrey Country Inn, Welsh speakers and learners of all levels are welcome to join in for some conversati­on and fun, 1-3pm. Ty Golau Dementia Charity Trust Ty Golau therapeuti­c group for people with memory problems meet every Monday morning from 10.30am-12noon at Canolfan John Burns Centre, Carmarthen Road, Kidwelly. Every session is specifical­ly aimed to stimulate the brain in a non-threatenin­g, fun way. Refreshmen­ts are included in the cost of £5 for service users and £1 for carers/family members.
