TROSTRE’S CUP DREAMS OVER

-

THE dream of playing at the Swansea.com Stadium for the second consecutive season is over for Trostre AFC, who were beaten 2-0 by visiting Hakin United in the second round of the West Wales Intermediate Cup.

After losing to Seven Sisters Onllwyn in last season’s final, Trostre failed to fire against Pembrokeshire League division one outfit Hakin, who took control of the contest via goals from Jack Britton and Justin Harding.

The rest of the weekend programme was badly affected by the weather, and only a handful of games were played as the heavy rain took charge.

Postponed because of waterlogged grounds were the two scheduled games in the Premier division of the LTC Mobility Carmarthenshire League at Felinfoel and Trallwm, as were the Premier Division Cup firstround ties at Gorseinon Athletic and Loughor Rovers. Pontlliw enjoyed the luxury of a walkover against visiting Pwll Athletic.

In division one there was a first league defeat for Caerbryn, who went down 5-2 in the away clash at Llandovery Town, who climb into second in the table.

Llandovery produced arguably their best performance of the season, pulling clear with goals from Dan Pearce, Scott Price, Sol Lake, Fen Wilson and Chris Hyde.

The assists were provided by Lake, Hyde, Rhys Kelly, Chris Challenger and Mark Dyer.

Cian Anderson and Oliver Dymond (penalty) netted for Caerbryn.

There was a strong performance from Llangennech, who made ground advantage count in an eyecatching 5-0 win against Pembrey.

The deadlock was broken in the 27th minute by Liam Fry, before Alex Davies doubled the advantage 15 minutes later to make the half-time score 2-0.

Llangennech were in no mood to sit on their lead, with Chris Doran extending the cushion in the 74th minute.

Goals in the last few minutes by Liam Griffiths and Nathan Mcauley wrapped up the points.

The game between Llandeilo Town and visiting Ponthenri was also given the go-ahead but failed to last the distance.

A goal by Nathan Jones had given Llandeilo a 1-0 half-time lead, but at this point the game was abandoned due to the worsening conditions.

There is no change at the top of reserve division one.

Seaside stay at the summit after a comfortable 3-0 win at home to Llangennech.

After getting the better of the midfield duel, striker Lewis Smith scored two for Seaside and there was a goal for Alex Harries.

Always in the thick of the action for the leaders were Ian Lewis and Harries.

Had it not been for a string of fine saves from Llangennech keeper Gary Evans, the final score would have been worse for his team.

In the only game played in reserve division two, Camford Sports beat Pontarddulais Town A 5-1 to move back to the top of the table.

Four of the goals were shared equally between Jason Morris and Josh Finan, while there was one for Jack Roberts.
