TEENAGER AT THE DOUBLE IN TOWN WOE

AFAN LIDO ............,,,,,,,,,,..... 4 CARMARTHEN TOWN ........ 1

-

CARMARTHEN Town were comprehensively beaten at Afan Lido, the home side’s victory including two clinical finishes from 17-year-old striker Ieuan Owen.

The game began in frantic fashion when Lido took the lead in the first minute. Straight from kick-off Lido won a throw in Carmarthen’s half. The ball reached Bradley Fray who played a short pass to Owen in the penalty area, and he struck a volley which flew past Old Gold goalkeeper Lee Idzi and into the top corner.

Just a minute later Carmarthen were on the attack and Tom Dyson shot from the edge of the box, but home keeper Exauce Dimonekene saved low to his right.

The game was already an end-toend affair and Lido created their next chance just five minutes later when former Carmarthen striker Liam Griffiths headed over.

In the ninth minute, a Lido attack broke down and Will Rickard picked up the ball in midfield. He drove forward and found new signing Gavin

Jones on the right. He in turn delivered a defence-splitting ball to Noah Daley, who powered his shot low past Dimonekene to equalise.

Further chances were created by both teams. Jordan Langley’s dipping shot went wide for Carmarthen, then Griffiths almost caught Idzi out at the other end with a delicate chip that went over the bar.

The first half ended as it began, in frantic fashion.

Daley played in Gavin Jones, whose pace took him into the area but his shot was saved by Dimonekene.

Then Sean Hanbury picked out Liam Mccreesh in the centre circle, he chested the ball down and struck a first-time ball over the Carmarthen defence to Owen, who confidently finished past Idzi into the bottom corner.

Straight from the restart Carmarthen made their way into the

Lido area with Gavin Jones getting behind the defence. He rolled the ball across the six-yard box, but just as Liam Thomas was going to tap home, a last-ditch tackle from Jackson Hall diverted the ball clear.

The Old Gold struggled to create clear chances in the second half and went further behind after 68 minutes when another long ball from Hall picked out Mccreesh behind the Carmarthen defence, and he calmly lobbed the ball over Idzi.

With six minutes remaining, Lido won possession on the edge of the Carmarthen area and a cross from Fray was turned into his own net by Scott Tancock.
