Chance taken at Rainbow
Colin Richards had the chance to join John Lilley on the Island for eight days, and he took him up on the offer even though the lake was fishing slow with minus temperatures all week. Colin caught three fish early in the trip up to 46lb, which was a relief as the previous anglers had both blanked. Surprisingly, the fishing slowed down as the weather improved and temperature rose. Colin was due to leave on the Monday as it was half-term at home and he was taking his son off to Centre Parks. But just as he was packing up, out of the blue, a rod that he had put out the previous Sunday with a corked Brazil on it, tore off, which was a shock and unusual, as the bites had been very timid up to that point! After a lovely fight he netted a stunning 62lb common, which made the trip worth the effort in the cold.
