Secret Garden stunner
Pete Summers headed south recently, to the fantastic Secret Garden venue in France, with friends Sam and Robbie, and even though it was bitterly cold while they were there, they found the carp to be in a friendly mood! With the lake closed to the public the main purpose of the trip was to help out around the venue with owner Jean Noel Negraud – but of course they weren’t going to drive all that way and not get the rods out for a bit! Despite the cold conditions Pete was advised to fish the shallow end of the lake and so that was what he did. It turned out to be a good move as he not only caught a few fish, he also caught what he described as one of the best-looking fish that he’s ever seen – a superb heavilyscaled mirror that he hooked from just two feet of water! Pete recognised the fish as one that his partner Mandy had caught earlier in 2017, but since then the fish has piled on a few pounds and also darkened in colour. Sam and Robbie both got amongst the fish too, with Robbie getting a new PB of 26lb 2oz and Sam catching a mirror of just under 40lb, which has put on 3lb in the last three months. All of the fish were caught on the RBA Baits Spicy Krill boilies.
