Early in March we were sad­dened to learn about the death of Len Gurd, he was 78. Len was best-known for run­ning Lin­ear fish­eries, which he founded in Bed­ford­shire in 1973, be­fore mov­ing to its cur­rent base in Ox­ford, 20 years later. Len was re­spon­si­ble for the re­lease of nu­mer­ous carp fish­ing films through his Orig­i­nal Video Com­pany, as well as writ­ing books for chil­dren. He was also a re­mark­able fundraiser, no­tably cre­at­ing the Fish With The

Stars event which raised many thou­sands of pounds for the Mo­tor Neu­rone

Len died peace­fully at home, with his wife, Fran, by his side.
