Fun in the snow at Crete Lakes
Luke Greeneway ventured out in the worst of the spring weather and showed us all that if you make the effort and choose the venue carefully, then you don’t need too long to end up with a trip to remember! In fact the trip was no more than a quick four nights at Crete Lakes. As you may have already guessed, the weather wasn’t in Luke’s favour at all, dropping down to -5ºc and having a bit of snow thrown in for good measure. Neil Rivers and Luke split up, with Neil going on to Lake 3 and Luke on Lake 2. Luke chose to fish spots at around 75yards on a sandy bar. The first night resulted in four fish – a 48lb mirror, along with other mirrors of 41lb and 43lb. But the best was yet to come! Finally after 20 years of waiting, he banked a common over 40lb at 45lb 8oz. Neil on Lake 3 kept the bites coming for the duration of their stay, landing 19 fish to 64lb.
