Lake Chira back on track

Carpworld - - TOPCATS -

Over on Gran Canaria things are looking very good at the main carp fishing venue on the island, Lake Chira. Much of the talk over recent months has been about how low the water was and people fearing that it might dry up completely. Well that could never happen anyway but, the great news is that after weeks of rain and stormy conditions, the lake is now full once again. It may seem hard to believe that things can turn around so quickly but it was Dave Beecham, of Carp Gran Canaria, who predicted it would happen. He said: “I’ve seen exactly the same thing happen before where the water levels have been low but, because everywhere around the lake is solid rock, as soon as we get heavy rain it all runs in to the lake and it rises literally meters in just hours. Now that the lake is full it has been fishing really well with everyone catching and if previous years are anything to go by we will see the weights increasing rapidly over the next few months.”
