FISHING ADVISER 2018 CHARITY FISH-IN FOR ‘KIDS’

Carpworld - - EDITORIAL -

Kids is a wonderful organisation that supports children with special needs and their parents by providing group sessions where the children can learn and play together, and parents can get support outside the usual NHS provision.

Over the weekend of 20th, 21st, and 22nd July, Newbridge Lakes played hosts to a Charity Fish-in, organised by Fishingadviser Events, to raise money for Kids. BBC Radio Humberside broadcast their 12 till 3 afternoon show from the lake-side as the match got underway and the first fish was caught. There were several fish landed to just over 22lb overnight and the match was going well.

The lake was rested for a couple of hours Saturday afternoon, time for some socialising, and a lovely BBQ organised by lake owners Michelle and Lance Bramley. Brian Skoyles organised a mini competition whilst the food was being cooked, an opportunity for plenty of laughs and even more banter – then it was back to the match.

Sunday morning and everyone gathered around the caravan for the presentations conducted by Bev Clifford from Carpworld. Two awards stood out – the biggest fish of the weekend caught by Tina Brown with a fish of 22lb 3oz and the overall winners for the second year running, Danny Mccann and Geoff Bird. Danny and Geoff had a grand total of 74lb 7oz from a five fish catch. Well done to all who took part and especially to Tina, Geoff and Danny.

Brian Skoyles reported: “As my grandson attends Kids sessions with his parents, I can personally vouch for how good a job they do, but like many organisations they rely on charitable donations to supplement the costs of some of the services they provide. This has been a great event superbly organised by Martin Credland, and Andrea and Sydney Megson. The atmosphere from start to finish has been a combination of serious fishing and fun socialising, all with a sense of purpose, to raise as much as possible for the Kids organisation. I have been honoured to have taken part... Events don’t come much better than this.

“For my part, I’d like to thank everyone for their involvement. Martin, Andrea and Sydney for their organisation, Michelle and Lance for being the perfect hosts. To Bev Clifford for presenting the prizes on the Sunday. To all the companies and individuals who sponsored the event including Daiwa Sports, Nutrabaits,

Carpworld, Hull Particles, Acorn Wood, CCW and many more that provided loads of raffle prizes, etc. Finally, to all the anglers from various parts of the UK for getting involved and contributing so much... Top job everyone.”
