DT Baits owner, Tom Mc­gre­gor, re­mem­bers that “Back in 1987, Dave Thorpe was a renowned an­gler in the for­ma­tive years of carp fish­ing, who held the Dutch carp record, and was known for his bait mak­ing skills.

“This hobby turned in to a busi­ness when he launched DT Bait De­vel­op­ments a lit­tle while later, pro­vid­ing a num­ber of base mixes for an­glers to roll their own bait.

“DT quickly marked it­self out as a bait which used hu­man-grade in­gre­di­ents and by sourc­ing the high­est grade pure flavours – some­thing it still guards pre­ciously to­day. These fea­tures, al­lied to Dave’s for­mu­la­tion skills led the brand to be­come known for be­ing a high qual­ity, big carp catcher.

“In 1992, a pil­lar of the com­pany, Neil Mes­sen­ger, met Dave, and was in­tro­duced to Cold Wa­ter Green Beast. He main­tains to this day that it was this bait in par­tic­u­lar that pulled him into DT and has kept him here ever since! Neil, Dave and Chris took the com­pany for­ward and into the age of boilie rolling. Again DT de­vel­oped a rep­u­ta­tion for per­fec­tion us­ing a three roller as op­posed to a two roller for­mer – and al­ways built on the found­ing prin­ci­ples of ex­cel­lence, nu­tri­tion and pre­ci­sion.

“Fur­ther in­no­va­tion main­tained its place in the mar­ket – washed out pop-ups were pi­o­neered by DT, along with iconic DNA feed­ing stim­u­lants, boosted hook­baits and more.

“I took over the reins in 2016 af­ter work­ing in the com­pany for two years. Now Neil and my­self lead the ex­panded team in pro­duc­ing the finest bait for those an­glers across Europe who ap­pre­ci­ate the power of great bait”.
