Carp Team England Ladies completed their summer season of fixtures victorious once again, taking gold with another magnificent international win. Hosted at Thorpe Lea fishery in Surrey, the cream of European Ladies carp angling descended on the UK in hot and bright conditions to compete for the title of International Carp Fishing Association European Tri-nations Champions.

Run to FIPSED International rules, which are significantly more stringent and complex than our own domestic rules, the lake was split into three sections with a pair from each nation competing in each section. The teams then battled it out in three mini matches with 1 point for the winner, 2 for second, 3 for third and 4 for a no-score.

A dominant England took the win in two sections with a second in the final section, for an unassailable 4 point result. Wales came in second with 7 points and Holland took third with 11 points.

“It was a tough match in difficult conditions but we really wanted this win” announced England Ladies Player Manager, Miranda Brown. “Although on home turf, we hadn’t fished this venue before so we had to be on our toes with both tactics and tactical changes. We brought our A game and it worked. We’re over the moon”.

This victory makes it a double whammy for England Ladies who earlier in the year won the Anglo Welsh Cup for a record third time in a row.

Female participation in carp angling is one of the biggest success stories and growth areas in modern-day angling, attracting widespread press and national television coverage. England ladies are at the forefront of the drive and are respected as No.1 in the world.

In June 2019 France will host the inaugural FIPSED (International Sport Fishing Federation) World Championships. Head coach and Carp Team England Boss, Rob Hughes, added “The girls are brilliant anglers, ambassadors and representatives for our country and our sport. They are a formidable team that fished hard and tactically. They deserved the victory.”

England Ladies are now looking forward to developing even further as a squad across the rest of the summer with a number of exhibition events followed by training through the winter break”.
