All-action Trip to Poland
Steve and Joan Briggs headed off across Europe in search of carp once more, this time driving to Poland and to the fabulous Goslawice Lake situated near Konin in the middle of the country. It was actually the first lake they had ever fished in Poland around five or six years ago, so they were keen to see how things had changed. In fact there have been several changes, perhaps most importantly the water level has been raised by about 75cm, which on a lake that was previously shallow, has made quite a bit of difference! The fish now move more freely around the lake and they have grown on really well with three known fish over 30kg now! The trip started very quickly when Steve hooked in to a 20lb mirror before he’d even had a chance to switch his alarms on! A further five fish followed that night and that was the shape of things to come. One of the other changes to the lake is that there are now some wooden cabins, with good facilities inside and so the sleepless nights were made more comfortable during their stay. The pair were using Nash Scopex Squid boilies along with matching flake and pellets, and as long as they found some firmer spots in amongst the soft, weedy bottom, the action would come sooner or later. They caught literally stacks of fish during the week. The larger fish were a bit quieter as often happens during the warmest months, but Joan did catch them to 33lb 4oz, while Steve caught his first Polish common over 40lb to complete a hectic, tiring but also very enjoyable week!
