Crete Lakes’ Crackers
James Ingram decided it was time for his first trip to France. He and a group of mates decided on Crete Lakes as their chosen venue. After a walk around, two of them decided to fish Lake 2. They could see that the weed was covering the majority of the lake, however it still looked good! Battling with weed and also crayfish, his approach was to crumb up 5kg of Krill boilies and use a mix of 16mm and 20mm shelf-life Krill, coated in pure Krill oil. The first fish didn’t come until the Monday morning. This weighed 30lb. As the week went on James could feel his lead hitting the lake bed harder and harder every time, highlighting that the carp were coming in and clearing the spots of bait. It wasn’t until the next night that he had his second fish – a 45lb mirror. Things went a little quiet after that but he carried on feeding his spots. On the Thursday afternoon they decided to have a BBQ. Whilst this was going on, James could see his spots fizzing and then, the liners started to come. Twenty minutes later he had his third fish at 38lb and whilst putting the fish into a sling to let it recover for a few minutes, his second rod ripped off, and he managed to bank a 47lb mirror, meaning he had a brace for 85lb. All in all, a great first trip across the Channel.
