A final thank you

Archangel Az had come for Vinny
Opening the door to my cousin Vinny’s house, I saw that he was sitting outside in the rain, under his umbrella, watching his garden.
I ran to bring him inside. ‘I’ll make you a nice cup of tea,’ I coaxed gently.
He grumbled as I led him indoors. He’d always been eccentric, independent and stubborn, but at 84, he was becoming confused and argumentative.
I divided my time between looking after him and my mum, who was dying of lung cancer and receiving palliative care at home.
It was July 2013, and I was suffering with my own health. I’d been poorly with kidney failure and gall stones, so looking after Vinny and Mum myself was a struggle.
Gettingworse
Tests showed that Vinny had heart failure. One day, I found him asleep in his chair. I couldn’t wake him, so called an ambulance.
‘Don’t leave me,’ he begged, opening his eyes as I got his things together. ‘I don’t want to die alone.’
Of course, I couldn’t say no. I went with Vinny to hospital.
‘I’d like orchard yellow lilies on my coffin,’ he told me. ‘I’ve never been able to grow them myself!’
On his fifth night in hospital, I saw a bright blue and silver being with large wings standing next to his bed. I recognised Archangel Az. He’d come for Vinny. I held his hand as he slipped away.
I organised a spray of orchard yellow lilies for Vinny’s coffin, as he’d requested. I took a photo and sent it to Vinny’s relatives, then deleted the photograph.
Vision
Six months later, I was in hospital for an operation on my gall stones. I prayed to the angels to keep me safe. I was rewarded with a vision of the Archangel Sandalphone, a tall being with beautiful blue eyes.
The next day, I was texting my daughter when all of a sudden, a photo of yellow orchard lilies popped up on my phone. It was the photo I’d taken at Vinny’s funeral – the photo I’d deleted.
As I looked at it, I realised it was a sign from Vinny. He was watching over me. Perhaps he’d even sent Archangel Sandalphone to help me. The operation was a success. Although Vinny never said ‘thank you’ in life, he made up for that in spirit. Thanks to him and the angels, I’m here to tell the tale!
