The jazz singer Billie Holiday died in 1959 from alcoholrelated illness. Some say she was cursed earlier in her career for recording Gloomy Sunday, which came to be known as the ‘ Hungarian Suicide Song’ as so many suicides were connected with it – including its composer, Rezso Seress. Some radio networks have purportedly banned it.
