Make your own runes

Collect evenly-sized pebbles from a beach, or you could use crystals or even bits of wood. Whatever you choose, you will need 24 items because this is the number in the Elder Futhark set.

Draw or paint the rune symbols on your 24 stones, crystals or discs of wood. When you’ve finished, place the runes in a circle beginning with Fehu at the 12 o’clock position and work clockwise.

Spread smoke over the circle of 24 runes using a sage smudge stick and chant, ‘Protect and keep safe, guard and guide.’ This smudging will cleanse the runes. You’re now ready to start your divination.
