WATCH IT AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER
We all need something to lift our spirits, which is why it’s great news that the much-loved kids’ animated show
is coming to Netflix in
May. Now 15 years old, the show is set in a world divided into Earth, Air, Water and Fire tribes, and the Bender for each tribe has the power to manipulate that element. But now the Fire tribe wants to control the world and only the Avatar – who can master all the elements – has the power to stop him… Seasons 1-3 will be showing on Netflix from May.
WHY WE LOVED… MERLIN
In the days before Netflix, Saturday evening telly was the family viewing slot, perfect for slobbing out with a pizza and some easy watching – and nothing fitted the bill better than Merlin. Forced to hide his powers from magic-hating King Uther as he kept Prince Arthur safe from harm while masquerading as his foolish man servant, young Merlin spent most of the five series battling Arthur’s nemesis, his evil sister, Morgana. A powerful witch herself, Morgana somehow didn’t realise that Merlin was the world’s greatest magician right up until the last episode. The last we saw of Merlin, he was still alive in 21st century – so there’s still hope of a revamp! Bring it on, BBC!
