Rebalance your life with the help of the moon goddess

-

Did you know that the moon is essential to the survival of our own beautiful planet – without its gravitational pull, Earth would gradually speed up and an entire day would pass in a blink? Equally, tapping into your own lunar deity can do your health and wellbeing a whole lot of good. Creating your own special, unique quiet space is a great way to connect with the moon goddess – and you can do this in your own bedroom. All it takes is a little imagination…

The first thing you need to do is to make sure that your bedroom is cleansed – firstly, by giving it a good tidy. But before you get the hoover out, try and look at your bedroom with fresh eyes. Is it full of things you love, or even need? Or is it just...a mess?

Throughout our lives we collect so much ‘stuff’, but if you want to connect with the clean energy of a lunar deity, you need to be free of physical and emotional baggage. A decluttered environment is essential for a decluttered mind and a calm, open soul.

Ditch the bumf – get rid of anything that doesn’t make you truly happy. As decluttering guru Marie Kondo advises, throw out anything that does not ‘spark joy.’ Clothes you haven’t worn in years, disused makeup palettes – it can all go. Clear out the old, dispense of negative memories, and make way for positive moon beam energy in your life.

Once you’ve cleared the area, don’t reach for chemical cleaning products. Instead, use distilled or filtered water with a few drops of rose oil to both clean and cleanse. Finish by smudging the room with sage (see boxout at the bottom), to completely purify.

Lilac (Syringa vulgaris) is one of those heady, floral wonders that fills streets and parks with the unmistakeable scent of spring. To preserve as much of the plant’s flavour as possible, I have suggested something akin to a quick, cold-brewed tea. Young nettle (Urtica dioica) tips are bursting with detoxifying goodness and give drinks a wonderful tannic quality. Put the two together with a drop of honey and you’ve got yourself a gorgeous springtime sipper!

Glass: Rocks Serves 1

 5oz (150ml) Lilac & Nettle Tea

 Squeeze of fresh lemon

 2 tsp (10ml) honey or maple syrup

 Cocktail shaker with strainer

 Ice cubes

 Lilac blossoms to garnish

Method:

1. Fill the rocks glass with ice and fill the cocktail shaker two-thirds of the way up ice. Add the Lilac & Nettle Tea, squeeze of lemon, and your choice of syrup. Shake well and strain into the rocks glass. Garnish with lilac blossoms.
