Symbols explained
The concept of sacrifice – human, animals, self-sacrifice – is a common motif in most religions. At Easter, Christians celebrate Christ sacrificing himself for the good of mankind, for example. Sacrificial acts are very real, as the events of history can testify, but what does it mean when we dream about it…?
BEING SACRIFICED
suggests that you’ve got a tendency to be too hard on yourself, or to punish yourself. Alternatively, it can mean that you don’t feel others have recognised what you’ve given up for them.
SELF-SACRIFICE
of any kind shows that, deep down, you feel a need to get rid of certain aspects of your life in order to free yourself up for better things.
SEEING AN ANIMAL BEING SACRIFICED
means you are willing to put your more animalistic or carnal instincts aside in favour of spiritual activities and pursuits.
SACRIFICING A PERSON OR AN ANIMAL YOURSELF
means you actively want to do whatever you can to get shot of certain people around you, or your unhealthier tendencies, for the greater good in your life.
BEING CRUCIFIED
symbolises being martyred by others in some way, against your wishes.
BURNING AT THE STAKE LIKE JOAN OF ARC
represents a sense of enormous injustice being done to you – to your fury!
