Whether you’re a fan of fermented foods or not, sauerkraut is packed with magical benefits. The heavy, pickled white cabbage is governed by the moon and associated with personal power and purificati­on. Add in the brine made from sea salt, and you’ve got a snack that will protect you and boost energy levels.

Make it!

Take a medium head of white cabbage, fully shredded, and sprinkle with 1 to 3 tbsp of sea salt. Knead with clean hands or pound with a potato masher until enough juice has been released to cover the cabbage. Pop in a jar, covered with the brine, and secure with an airtight lid. Leave at room temperatur­e for two weeks, then refrigerat­e. Serve with burgers or in a salad for protection and strength.
