Chat It's Fate

I manifested my own castle!

IDve always known f was different. Even as a child, I knew things other people didn’t, like when there was going to be a thunderstorm, or who was on the other end of the phone – and this was back in the days before mobile phones!

‘That’s Nan,’ I’d predict as Mum picked it up. Sure enough, it would be my grandma, ringing for a chat.

One of my earliest memories is falling down the stairs. I was about four years old at the time, and I’d got up to go to the loo in the night. Somehow, I slipped.

I crashed down the stairs, landing at the bottom unhurt, luckily. But as I lay there, in front of the door, trying to catch my breath, the letterbox above me slowly began to open.

A pair of yellow eyes were staring through it, straight at me.

For a moment, I was transfixed with terror.

‘Mum! 'ad!’ I screamed.

My dad came running down the stairs. ‘What’s going on, Lara, are you OK?’

My voice shaking with fear,

I told him what I’d seen and he went rushing out of the front door to see who was out there.

He came back in, scratching his head.

‘There was nobody there,’ he said. ‘Maybe you just imagined it, Lara?’

But I knew what I’d seen. And as I got older, I got used to seeing spirit around me. Sometimes the spirits were friendly, sometimes they were scary, but they were just a part of everyday life for me.

I was absolutely fascinated with the supernatural all through my teens. When my friends were busy getting drunk and getting off with boys, I was holding seances, experimenting with spells and magic.

Life-changing

I was 18 when I met a woman who helped change my life. She was a white witch, and she became my mentor. She showed me how to work with natural energies, to harness the power of nature itself. One Hallowe’en, I stayed at her house. We were sitting in her living room, which had a huge picture hanging over the mantleplace. Time flew past as we chatted, bouncing ideas off each other – and the room gradually became more and more charged with magical energy. Suddenly, I opened my mouth and the strangest words spilled out.

I’m a solitary witch

Hallowe’en is perfect for manifesting dreams Great power

‘Lara,’ my friend gasped. ‘You’re speaking in tongues!’

I had no idea what language I was speaking, only that the words I was uttering held great power.

As the clock struck midnight, the picture hanging over the mantlepiece leapt into the air – it jumped, it didn’t fall – and crashed to the ground.

It was a lightbulb moment for me. I realised that I really did have magical ability, a special gift.

But I had no money, was living on my friends’ floors. One day I

was visiting my grandma when f noticed her tarot cardsk They were the oider-taite decki the original tarot cardsk

‘f didndt know you read taroti kanid f saidi picking them upk

‘f could never make them workid she saidk ‘vou can have them if you wanti iarakd

Card readings

f took them home and started playing with them and realised f had an instinct for itk fmages would come into my head as f held the cardsk f started doing tarot readings for my friends at college – and swiftly got a reputation for being incredibly accuratek po f started charging £OK5M a readingi and f built up a loyal client basek

tithin a few yearsi f was being contacted by celebritiesi travelling to give readings all over the worldk

fdd found my nichek lr ratheri ppirit had found it for me!

jagic has always been a huge part of my lifek fdm a solitary witchi f dondt work with a coveni but f use magic every day to help manifest the life f wantk then f applied to do an lpen rniversity degree a few years agoi f was turned down for funding – so f did a manifestation spellk tithin daysi f received a letter saying that f was eligible for funding after allk

And these days f live in a castle! Talk about a dream come true – although f made it happeni using my powers of manifestationk

jy partner and f run N4th century hirroughtree eouse in aumfries and dalloway as a B&BK ftds hauntedi of course – thereds a poltergeist in the upstairs bedrooms and several spooks on the stairsk

But sometimesi when f think about how far fdve come – from being homeless to living in a castle – f have to pinch myself!

As a witchi ealloweden is one of the most important times of yeark pome witches see it as the start of the kew veari but for me itds Thanksgiving – an opportunity to look back on the yeari throw out any negative energy or bad habits and start afreshk

ftds also a brilliant day for manifestation spells – and thatds what magic isi reallyk ftds about using natural energy to create our own destinyk

f believe wedve all got the power to do it – we just have to tap into our inner witch!
