Ilost my beautiful best friend (who I call my fur daughter) Trixie in February this year and I’m told that time is a healer but, not for me. Six months on and I can’t get past the sheer pain in my heart and I’m crying every day for her. I can’t even talk about her without breaking down. She was a rescue dog but she rescued me. She was like an emotional support dog to me as I suffer from extreme anxiety and depression. We lost her so suddenly and I’m aching to hear from her. She was my absolute world and I’ll admit that there are times since her passing that I have wanted to join her. If I see a dog that looks like her, I want to rush up and hug them as I did her. I can’t get any peace as the pain is always there. Please can you help me? I know you get so many letters but I’m so desperate to get some peace and to hear from my beautiful girl. Thank you. Dearvicky

I know only too well the pain and hurt you are experiencing at the moment. Our animals can be a life line. They always give us unconditional love. Your Trixie is part of your soul and therefore will never leave you, she sleeps on your bed, she sits on the sofa with you and she comforts you in your grief. Please believe me when I say to you there was no pain when she passed.

She often moves her toys around your living room and that will be a sign that she is there with you. You were meant to be together, and one day will join each other in Heaven.

Dogs have souls and can visit us from the spirit world. Trixie loved her water bowl so make sure you keep a little bit of water in it on the floor in the kitchen as she can smell it. This may help you to cope with your grief over the next month or two.

It’s OK to talk to her as if she is there – she can hear you! You’ll get comfort from a sense of knowing she is there. I hope that reading this helps a little with your pain.
