The legendary 18th century violinist Niccolo Paganini is also said to have sold his soul to the Devil in return for his musical talent. Considered by many to be the greatest violinist who ever lived, he was known as the ‘Devil’s violinist’, and was rumoured to have murdered a woman and trapped her soul in his violin. It’s now thought that his unusual finger length, which allowed him to play three octaves across four strings in a hand span, may have been due to Marfan syndrome.
