GOD’S PUNISHMENT
When it rains too much, floods can occur. One of the most famous floods is course the one God sent in the book of Genesis in the Bible. Noah was commanded to build an ark to save all the animals and creatures of the earth, which were told to go into the ark two by two.
Similar flood motifs occur in folklore from all around the world, including a version from Mesopotamia that pre-dates the Old Testament, and a version from Plato’s Timaeus, written in 360BC, in which a great flood is sent by Zeus to destroy the world after mortals anger him. The Titan Prometheus saves humanity by instructing Deucalion to build an ark.
