Rhythm of the night
Heard of ‘ultradian rhythms’? Thought not! These are cycles which we all naturally experience in our lives during the course of a 24 hour day. Essentially, they mean we can concentrate most effectively for around 90 minutes, especially if this time frame is broken up into 25 to 30 minute periods, with a few minutes to relax in between. This resets our minds and bodies each time. Even when we’re asleep, we’re still subject to the ultradian rhythms – we usually have 90 minutes of light sleep followed by 90 minutes of dreaminducing REM sleep. The cycle repeats several times over during our slumbery, snoozy, nighty-night times.
