THE HAUNTING:
The strange stories told by motorists driving on A15 near the village of
Ruskington have become the stuff of legend – urban legends, anyway!
Phantom hitchhikers, white ladies, ghostly running men and a dark shadowy presence have all been reported on this otherwise unremarkable stretch of road. It’s a phenomenon that was brought to public attention by none other than TV presenter Richard Madeley, who dubbed it ‘The Ruskington Horror’.
A look at the history of this stretch of single carriageway explains why it might attract the odd entity or two. The field next to the Ruskington turn-off was once a plague pit, a motorcyclist died on the corner of the road, and a local hermit was also killed by speeding traffic. There are also rumours of a connection between the road and the mysterious Knights Templar – and a derelict house nearby is said to be a hotspot for the paranormal.
This rich tapestry could only mean one thing – it’s time for our resident ghost hunter and stand-up comedian Barry to head to the A15 to try and experience the horror for himself...
