Symbols explained

-

We’ve had weapons for as long as we’ve been on the planet. From a simple knife to a deadly bomb, there are countless tools we can – and sadly, do – use to do harm to our fellow human beings. Different cultures use different weapons, and of course, these have become imbued with a symbolism of their own.

Here’s what it can mean if we find ourselves dreaming of some of these dreaded implements of aggression…

CUTTING IT

Knives and daggers represent a need to cut something or someone out of your life, to cut ties or sever a relationship, or possibly to divide or dissect a situation to your advantage.

OUT WITH A BANG

Handguns are symbolic of overbearing masculine authority, pride, and power. They can also be suggestive of male power in the realms of sex and sexuality. The issue of personal defensiveness against confrontational, oppressing elements in your life is likely to be important to you.

GUNNING FOR YOU

Machine guns represent huge anger and upset at those around you. They can also indicate a fear of lacking the necessary skills to deal with a dangerous or difficult situation.

BLOWN AWAY

Bombs indicate explosive situations, unexpressed desires or feelings coming to a head. Intensely

emotional troubles are affecting you, and need to be dealt with before they spiral out of control, with a devastating effect not just on you, but on everyone around you.

AXE TO GRIND

Machetes in your dreams symbolise either that you’re feeling extreme hostility to others – or that you feel supremely well-equipped to clear your path of whatever obstacles may be in your way.

FIRE AWAY

Bow and arrows represent both feminine and masculine energies coming to the fore, potentially in harmony, working towards a specific common goal. There is tension in the situation, but once released or realised, with very careful aim, it will be to your benefit.

BLADE OF GLORY

Swords are symbolic of ambitious and decisive energies that are powerful yet precise in their aims. They can also be seen as another phallic symbol – of particularly aggressive intent.
