Lord of the Flies

-

Micky Vermooch dropped everything and drove 160 miles south with his working partner from Yorkshire to Birmingham just to help me. As the pair of them stepped into our house, Micky shuddered.

‘This is no ordinary demon,’ he said. ‘It’s the Lord of the Flies, Beelzebub himself.’

He set to work immediately, cleansing the house with prayers and sage.

At one point, he stopped praying to gasp.

‘What is it?’ I asked anxiously.

‘It scratched me!’ he said. He lifted up his shirt to show deep scratches on his lower back. Luckily, he wasn’t fazed. He carried on working

– and gradually, the heavy, oppressive atmosphere in our house began to lighten.

By the time he’d finished, it felt like I had my old home back again.

‘How do you think the demon got in?’ I asked him.

‘Hmmm,’ Micky said thoughtfully. ‘There’s usually a portal.’

‘Have you ever played with a Ouija board?’ his colleague asked my son.

Kyran’s face dropped. ‘Oh!’ he exclaimed.

That’s when he told us how his mates had been messing with the Ouija board in the garden a couple of years earlier. I put two and two together.

‘The trouble started straight after that,’ I gasped.

Micky explained that the demon had latched onto Kyran and that’s how it had been able to enter the house.

‘Ouija boards are very dangerous in the wrong hands,’ he explained. ‘They open up a portal and any spirit, good or bad, can come through.’

He added, ‘Unless you know what you’re doing, Ouija boards are best left well alone.’

The atmosphere began to lighten

Back to normal

After he left, I was worried that the demon would return – but it didn’t. Things went back to normal, and now we all sleep in our own beds again! My partner moved back in and the house is restored to its usual tranquil environment.

Best of all, the terrible arguments have stopped and Kyran’s back to his usual happy, chatty self. I wouldn’t wish what happened to us on my absolute worst enemy. Even a home-made Ouija board is not to be messed with – so if you’re reading this and have children, make sure they stay away from such things.

They’re not a game, they’re very, very dangerous.

I should know.

After all, my family went to hell and back – literally!
