DRACULA IN DUBLIN
If you’re into vampire lore, then head to Dublin for the fabulous Bram Stoker Festival from 26 to 29 October. Visitors dress like characters from the author’s iconic Gothic novel Dracula - such as prim Mina Harker or wanton Lucy Westenra - or wear Hallowe'en outfits to celebrate the season. When darkness falls, a carnival takes to the streets, with ghosts and ghouls, drummers, dancers, and hours of dastardly fun.
Acts in the theatres and on the streets include fire-eaters, jugglers, acrobats, contortionists and magicians. Actors play dark and macabre roles in a variety of haunting plays. There's a wide range of terrifying movies showing in locations across the city, and for youngsters who are tucked up in bed at night, there are lots of daytime activities too - fairground rides, stalls, street performers, and fancy dress. With four nights of blood-curdling excitement ahead, take a look at the schedule at bramstokerfestival.com
