HELLRAISING IN BUCKINGHAMSHIRE
The Hellfire Caves in West Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, are hollowed out beneath an Iron Age fort, on top of which now stands a mausoleum – could there be any more of a spooky setting? Of course, the caves are home to several spooks, including a jilted bride, a miner, and Paul Whitehouse, the drinks steward of the infamous 18th century Hellfire Club, which rich young men joined to indulge their various appetites for the occult, politics, and ladies! Hallowe'en Week takes place from 22 to 27 October with spooky games, colouring competitions, and fancy-dress competitions at 1.15pm daily. Friendly spooks will be organising Hallowe'en games and face painting. The Hallowe'en fun takes place in the courtyard and is all free of charge, except the face painting.
