You may have noticed that we do like a good old apocalyptic story here on the Outer Source pages. And, well, the end of the world is due – again.
According to Orthodox Judaism, the sacrifice of a red heifer is essential in the rebuilding of the holy Third Temple on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, and thus to the coming of the Messiah and the Final Judgement. The Biblical prophecy states that the heifer (or cow) must be female, and not have carried any yoke, and it must be perfectly red without blemish.
Now, it seems, one such red heifer has been born in Israel. Born on 28 August, it’s said to have been examined by rabbinical experts and found to fit the bill. It is being raised and specially cared for under the auspices of the Temple Institute’s ‘Raise a Red Heifer’ programme.
So, the Final Judgement might come sooner than we think. Better start behaving, just in case! But then again, many people have predicted the end of the world, not least on these pages, and so far, we’ve found there’s always time for a cuppa first…
