Learn to heal yourself for Christmas
Beat the blues by being your own therapist
Sometimes everyday life can be a real struggle, and it’s not surprising that many people suffer with mild depression, anxiety and low confidence. Your mind functions like a sponge, absorbing all those negative emotions – that parking ticket, that scolding from your boss or argument with your spouse - then drip-feeding them back to you over time. This can make you feel out-of-control and generally overwhelmed. Counselling is a great way to empty the ‘mind sponge’ and refill it with positive thoughts instead, but NHS waiting lists are long and private treatment can be expensive. In the meantime, this class will help you to help yourself using some basic psychotherapy know-how.
TRY THIS:
Learn to recognise the three positions so that you can identify when you are on the Triangle or when someone is trying to draw you into their Triangle. Then simply step out of all those roles and, taking up an Adult position instead, ask, ‘How can we work together to come to a satisfactory solution?’ The Drama Triangle requires two players, so in refusing to play the game, you force the other person off the Triangle as well, helping the conflict to be resolved.
